In the spirit of World Food Day, Evolve Group UK proudly announced its participation in The Felix Project’s Empty Plate Emergency Appeal, a critical initiative aimed at raising over £500,000 to combat the escalating challenges posed by rising food prices in 2023.

Emma from The Felix Project expressed her gratitude towards Evolve, stating, “We love working with the team at Evolve, from fundraising to volunteering, the team are always looking for the next way to support the Felix Project, and it’s help from companies like Evolve that we need ever so much right now!”

The Felix Project’s recent research, commissioned by Censuswide, paints a stark picture of the impact of soaring food prices on families. A distressing 1 in 4 working parents in London have faced difficulties affording meals for their children multiple times in the past year, equivalent to over 275,000 working parents in the city.

The research further revealed alarming statistics:

  • 14% of working parents sought assistance from a food support service for the first time.
  • 1 in 10 working families survives on a mere £2.85 a day for food, affecting over 100,000 families.
  • 22% experienced a decrease in their overall food budget compared to the previous year.
  • 25% admitted to skipping meals or not buying food for themselves to ensure their children could eat.

To address this crisis, The Felix Project launched the Empty Plate Emergency Appeal, calling on partners like Evolve Group UK for support. The aim is not only to raise funds but also to spread awareness about the challenges faced by working families in London.

In joining The Felix Project’s Empty Plate Emergency Appeal, Evolve Group UK aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of families facing food insecurity in London. Together, let’s fill those empty plates and bring warmth and nourishment to those who need it most.

Our Back of House divisional manager Joanna had this to say about her volunteering day down at the Deptford Depot “Four of us headed off to volunteer at The Felix Project in Deptford. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and felt like we had joined an amazing community.  It is very rewarding being part of a group helping in reducing food waste and saving people around us who are hungry. It is such a brilliant idea. I was proud to volunteer for Felix and I will be doing it again. A thoroughly rewarding , eye opening and humbling experience. There are such kind people out there doing amazing work. Well done, Felix!”
